THE INDIAN COMMUNITY SCHOOL KUWAIT INITIATES VIRTUAL TALK ON COVID 19 AND POSITIVE PARENTING

  1. ASK MY DOCTOR!!!!!!- SCARED OF COVID-19?

Covid-19 , is an infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered corona virus. Diseases are only a healthy response to an unhealthy environment, and treat the disease, not the symptom. The Indian Community School has always believed in spreading positivity and immense amount of knowledge. The school and its management makes it a point to keep their children and parents equally active. Taking the current pandemic crisis into consideration, ICSK shared a very distinctive platform for the parents and the children to update themselves about the ongoing state of affairs. An interactive session exclusively for the ICSK family was initiated on 19th June 2020 on the virtual platform which was the very first of its kind. The session named ASK MY DOCTOR, was with acclaimed health expert Dr. Murali Gopal, which dealt with the pre and post COVID-19  medical advices.

The session began with the Islamic prayer by Mrs. Rasheena. V followed by the Kuwait and Indian national anthems. Dr. Prathap Unnithan MDS Surgeon, Amiri Dental MOH Kuwait heartily welcomed the respected Guest Resource Person Dr. Murali Gopal, honourable members of Board of Trustees, Principals, Vice Principals, Deputy Vice Principal, teachers and the worthy parents of ICSK by delivering the welcome address. Mr. Yogesh T Rathod BE MBA Al Sayer Group, introduced the guest resource person Dr. Murali Gopal who is a Senior Consultant and Head Doctor at ASTER MIMS Hospital Kerala, India. He is a well renowned doctor in Kerala who extends his services and support to mankind. After the introductory session, began the much awaited and prominent part of the session which was the talk on Covid-19.

He said that corona viruses are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. He presented a variety of slides during the session which detailed that corona viruses are zoonotic, meaning, they are transmitted between animals and people. Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.

Standard recommendations to prevent infection spread include regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, thoroughly cooking meat and egg. Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing. After the presentation there was a very fruitful interactive session wherein the teachers and parents equally contributed by sharing their queries which were answered clearly. He elucidated and clearly advised all not to get confused with normal flu and Covid-19.

Mr. Shaik Abdul Rahiman, Honourable Chairman Board of Trustees ICSK and Mr. Amer Mohammed Honourable Secretary Board of Trustees ICSK on behalf of the whole team of ICSK, gifted a digital memento to express heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Murali Gopal. Towards the end, the session culminated with the vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Farahzeeba M Yusuf. To be precise, it was a very informative awareness programme which was truly essential during this crisis hour which proved to be an eye-opener for all of us.

  1. POSITIVE PARENTING

The most powerful way to change the world is to live in front of our children the way we would like the world to be. ICSK, Kuwait relates the children with their parents and with that noble intention, ICSK staged its first virtual parents’ training programme exclusively for the parents of ICSK on 28th May 2020. The programme was witnessed by the Honourable members of Board of Trustees of ICSK, Principals, Vice Principals, Deputy Vice Principal of all the four branches of ICSK, the faculty members and parents of the whole ICSK fraternity.

The resource person for the training session was Mr. Anto Michael, who is a motivational speaker and a psychological counsellor too. Even in this ubiquitous nature of lockdowns and quarantines, children are trying to cope up with their regular studies and online classes. The event commenced with the Islamic prayer by Mr. Abdul Khadir P one of the parent of ICSK. Dr. Amir Ahmed from IMA, the former President of Indian Doctors Forum delivered the welcome address and cordially welcomed all the dignitaries.

Dr. Renjith George, the renowned Endodontist, Ministry of Health, Kuwait, one of the parents of ICSK, introduced the resource person Mr. Anto Michael. Mr. Anto spoke about the various aspects in which children need and urge for help from their parents. He discussed about the various ways through which parents and children can get attached to each other. In this present scenario when life has become very expensive both the working parents are not able to spend time with their kids. This creates a lot of gap between them. But Mr. Anto discussed a lot of ways and means through which the bond between the parents and children could be strengthened. He shared a couple of interesting slides with the parents so that the thoughts could be clearer. An interactive session was also arranged in which the parents shared their concerns and queries.
